i was looking to replace a broken fan while maintaining the right style in my craftsman style house. this one looked perfect even tho i was a bit hesitant after reading the only other review. i didnt do the instillation of the fan, my husband and his father did, this was the second fan they installed together in the house and it didnt seem to take any more or less time than installing the other fan, they were done in about 2 hours. and it was definatly not as heavy as the other fan which is something they did appreciate. this fan didnt include a remote but we did add one that i bought from a local home repair store which works perfect. the look is perfect. i would agree that it isnt the brightest light, our kitchen fan/light is brighter but im not the biggest fan of too much light in the living room. it is our main source of light in the living room and i think it is perfect, the lights are acutally pretty bright but what dims it up a bit is the casing, the glass is not clear it's a frosted yellow/beige (im not good with colors you can see it in the pix) which mutes the brightness of the bulbs, i expected that since i could see that in the picture. ive read other reviews on different fan/lights where they took it to a glass place and had the glass replaced to something clear to increase the brightness, which would totally work if i had wanted it brighter. im a fan (pun intended!) of this product

Featuring an Arts and Crafts-inspired design, this ceiling fan has a traditional oil rubbed bronze finish, reversible teak/wengue blades, and a multi-paned amber alabaster glass shade. Ideal for rooms up to 360 square feet (18 by 20 feet) with standard 8-foot ceilings, this fan features a 153-by-20-millimeter silicon steel motor with triple capacitor. Three fan speeds (high/medium/low) and a reversible switch help keep you comfortable. In warm weather, you can run the ceiling fan counterclockwise to stay cool.
